This was my first year teaching ceramics, and I used my background in sculpture to help design and develop the course. Students worked on functional ceramic pieces such as drinking mugs, plates, and other vessels. Through these projects, students learned the fundamentals of working with clay, including hand-building techniques, form, surface design, and the relationship between functionality and artistic expression.
